Healthy Triple Berry Crumble

This Triple Berry Crumble is made with a light and flavorful berry base and topped with a delicious oat crumble. It’s healthy and super easy to make – what more than you ask for?

This Healthy Triple Berry Crisp is an easy-to-make dessert that calls for less than ten ingredients. And chances, are you already have them! This is a great dessert to bring to dinner parties in the summer. You can either use fresh berries that are in season or a bag of frozen berry mix. If you follow me over on Instagram, you know I DO NOT BAKE. It’s too complex and too easy to mess up, so I typically avoid it. That’s why this recipe is super flexible. You can whatever fruit you have lying around and even eyeball the ingredients! No matter what, it’ll still taste delicious.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COBBLER, CRISP & CRUMBLE

These tasty treats are all pie derivatives but can you tell them apart? What makes each one unique?

  1. Cobbler: This is an old-fashioned fruit dessert that is a common picnic delicacy! It is fruity filling, ususally peach or berries, that is covered with crust either on top or bottom. If you love crust.. do both!
  2. Crisp: This all-American recipe features a fruit filling of ususally apple or berries is topped with a delicious mix. Popularly, oats, nuts, or cookie crumble is rubbed together with butter, sugar, and flour to create a heavenly topping for the fruity goodness.
  3. Crumble: This is similar to a crisp but in simple terms is the English version. It is traditonally made using oats, brown sugar, butter, and flour. Crumbles can even be made using savory ingredients although the sweet ones are more popular.
THE BASICS OF A FRUIT CRUMBLE

A fruit crumble is one of my favorite desserts to make for multiple reasons. First of all, it tastes just as delicious straight out of the oven as it does after sitting out for hours at a party. The ingredients are also cheap and it’s pretty much impossible to mess up!

  1. Prepare your fruit filling : for this triple berry crumble, mix together your choice of berries into a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together your dry ingedients. Once you have mixed your oats, flour, salt, sugar, and cinnamon, mix in the butter with your hands. Now you have your crisp topping ready to go!
  3. Grease a baking dish and and spead the berries out on it. Then sprinkle on the crisp topping and pop it in the oven!

YES, it’s literally that simple.

CAN I USE FROZEN BERRIES?

Yes, you definitely can! Use whatever works best for you. Frozen berries are typically cheaper than fresh berries.

WHAT OTHER FRUIT CAN I USE?

In the summer you may want to stick with fresh berries, while an apple filling may be the way to go in the fall. Here are a few more unique ideas you can test out:

  • Apple-Pomegranate
  • Plum
  • Peach-Lavender
  • Peach-Apricot
