Mango Salsa Fresca

When I think about summers spent in India, I think about mangoes and spicy food. This Mango Masala Salsa was inspired by those memories and my favorite cuisine – Mexican! I paired sweet Kesar mangoes with tart, spicy touches from the Red Chili Powder & Chaat Masala.
A Sweet, Spicy & Tangy Salsa that will be on repeat all summer long.
This salsa is super versatile & can be served as an appetizer with your favorite chips or make a beautiful garnish! However, if you don’t have Kesar mangoes, you can use any fresh or thawed mangoes that you have around.
Is Pico Even Salsa?
The age old question … is pico even salsa? Technically, salsa is the Spanish word for sauce and can refer to cooked or uncooked mixtures. When most of us think of salsa, we think of the traditional stuff we get at Mexican Restaurants. Pico Salsa, often referred to as salsa fresco, is also a type of salsa that utilizes the different textures of fresh produce. Salsa Fresca (aka Pico) is traditionally nothing but an uncooked mixture of chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, fresh chiles, lime juice and salt. For this mango masala salsa, I added an Indian twist with fresh mangoes and chaat masala.

Don’t Have Chaat Masala?
That’s totally fine! Just leave it out and it’ll still taste delicious.
