Pumpkin Spice Latte Smoothie

This pumpkin spice latte smoothie is a spin off of a very popular recipe on my website – the coffee banana smoothie. It’s got coffee, pumpkin spice and is sure to wake you up for the day ahead!

What You Need for this Recipe

  • Coffee: A great way to incorporate your daily coffee fix into breakfast is by adding it to this delicious smoothie. Adding coffee to a smoothie like this will slow the absorption of coffee. This causes a more gradual increase in energy rather than a sudden spike and crash, which is what a lot of us deal with when we have that black coffee first thing in the morning.
  • Bananas:  Bananas are great for giving you that boost of energy in the morning because it’s made up of easy to digest carbs. Bananas also have lots of fiber which helps slow the release of glucose into your bloodstream, giving you a steady stream of energy.
  • Powdered Almond Butter or Protein Powder: I love to add just. little powdered almond butter or protein powder to give this smoothie a protein powder. It also tastes delicious with regular almond butter! I love to use Barney’s Powdered Almond Butter or Vanilla Premier Protein Powderbut you can opt for regular almond butter as well if that is what you prefer!
  • Milk: this also adds to the protein and helps the blending blend everything up smoothly
  • Pumpkin Spice : would this really be a pumpkin spice smoothie without some pumpkin spice? If you don’t already have pumpkin spice on hand, you can easily make some at home using this recipe.
  • Pumpkin Puree : adding pumpkin puree to this smoothie is an absolute must! It adds to the pumpkin pie feel while also adding an entire serving of vegetables to this meal.

Tips for making this smoothie

  1. You have to use a frozen banana! This is what’s going to make your smoothie super creamy. Ideally, use a frozen banana that is ripe but not too ripe. Using a room temperature banana generally makes the smoothie taste overpoweringly bananas forward.
  2. For the ice, don’t add too much at once. Add a little bit at a time and blend until it’s that perfect creamy texture!
