Iced Tea is a classic summer drink that makes for a popular poolside, Fourth of July, picnic refreshment. This Southern Peach Iced Tea makes for the PERFECT combination of fresh peachiness with the depth of tea. I’m letting you in on a well-kept secret of mine… homemade iced tea is soooo much better than the storebought stuff and super easy. Whip up a batch of this fan favorite peach iced tea and be ready to make some more because you and your guests are gonna love it! Thank me later 😉
What You’ll Need to Make Peach Iced Tea
- Fresh Peaches: the key to a deliciously refreshing summer drink! The riper the better! Look for peaches that are ripe rather than firm. You want them to have a slight indentation when pressed. In terms of color, you want a bright redish/ orange hue rather than a brown. Two large peaches provide enough peachiness for the sweet peach syrup.
- Black Tea Bags: I recommend using Lipton or Twinings black tea bags but any good quality black tea will make for an invigorating and full-of-flavor tea!
- Sugar: Cane sugar is my favorite for a more full-bodied iced tea, but that can be replaced with the preferred amount of your favorite sweetener.
- Water: Obviously! Use filtered water if you can, instead of tap water.
How to Store Peach Iced Tea
Method One : Store the Peach Tea. This Refreshing Peach Iced Tea can be made and stored in the fridge up to 7-10 days. Once prepared, pour the peach iced tea into a pitcher or other storage container and cover it up. Avoid adding ice until you are serving so the tea does not become watered down.
Method Two : Store the Syrup, Make the Tea Fresh. You can also store this another way! Make the sweet peach syrup and store it in an ice cube tray for up to 2-3 months.Whenever you’re craving some refreshing peachy goodness, just whip up some tea, let it cool down, and toss in a peachy ice cube or two!

How Do I Make This Sugar Free?
You can use an artificial sweetener instead of sugar, but keep in mind that the peach syrup will be thinner than it is when made with sugar and the taste will obviously be a little different as well.
Can I Use Canned Peaches?
Canned peaches are definitely a working alternative to fresh peaches, especially when the fruit is not in season and is therefore harder to find. You can use canned peaches in syrup, juice, or water. Just keep in mind that if they are stored in a sugary base, you might want to keep a check on your added sugar so you don’t oversweeten the tea.
Can I Use Green Tea?
You can definitely use other varieties of tea for this recipe but the key is the method you use to make it. If you are using a lighter tea such as green tea, keep in mind that you will need to steep the tea bag rather than use the boiling water method as is done with black tea.
How to Use the Leftover Peaches:
Your leftover peach pulp does not have to be thrown out! Rather, you should save it and use it in some other recipes this summer:
- Use it as an add-in to smoothies, cocktails, mocktails, and other drinks
- make peachy ice cubes to add some fresh flavor to your water!
- make some homemade peach jam/jelly
- turn the extra pulp into a sweet syrup that can be spread on other fruit and/or toast, etc.

Spike your Peach Iced Tea!
If you are a fan of alcohol in your sweet tea, this recipe is the perfect opportunity to do so! Add your preferred strength and type of alcohol to the finished pitcher or spike your individual glass at your next pool party this summer! OR try this boozy Mango Sangria!

Southern Peach Iced Tea Recipe
- Yield: 4 Cups 1x
Description
This Southern Peach Iced Tea makes for the PERFECT way to turn those juicy peaches into a super refreshing summer drink. Make it by the pitcher and pour yourself a glass to cool down on a hot day!
Ingredients
Peach Syrup
- 2 peaches, sliced
- 1/3–1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
For the Peach Tea
- 2 black tea bags
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Slice up your peaches thinly and add to a saucepan with 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup of sugar. Add less or more sugar based on your personal preference. I find 1/2 cup to be perfectly sweet for sweet iced tea.
- Turn the stove on, bring to a boil and then simmer on low for 10-15 minutes to allow the peaches to get very soft. Use a masher or muddler to mash up the peaches really well.
- Add 4 cups of water to the saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn the heat off and add the black tea bags. Mix well and let it steep for 5-10 minutes, or to your preferred tea strength. Don’t leave it too long or it gets bitter and do not squeeze the tea bags.
- Let it cool down for 5 minutes and strain. Use a spoon to squeeze all the peach flavor out by pressing down. Don’t throw the leftover peaches out – it’s so yummy with some yogurt or toast.
- Chill in the fridge and serve with ice!
I just made this peach tea tonight and it is delicious! Definitely gonna do it again soon. 🍑
